Sikhs among the Queen's birthday honours Sikh Spirit

 

Veteran athlete Ajit Singh Kalirai was among a number of Sikhs who were named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Ajit Singh was awarded an MBE for services to athletics, earlier this year he won a hat-trick of gold medals  at the British Veterans Athletics Federation Indoor Championships for the second year running. The 73-year-old currently holds six British records.

Sarjit Sangha, co-ordinator, Gravesend Town Centre Initiative, services to the community.
Mohan Sokhal, JP, bus operator/driver, services to bus industry and community in Huddersfield.

Mohinder Mahi, Grade 7, Oftel, Department of Trade and Industry

CBE
Professor Rajinder Bhopal, Edinburgh University, services to public health medicine.
